ILLUSTRATIONS FOR PACKAGE REBRANDING
REDESIGN. ANNA’s ILLUSTRATIONS
A recent redesign was a complete change of packaging including bottle, label and logo redesign. The visual style needed to reflects the brand’s “natural, ‘fresh from the farm’ look.” The new labels were built around vector illustrations performed by Anna. Labels feature 23 fruit flavours. Illustrations and redesign were completed over the course of a year. The idea was to give illustrations one of a kind look of old etching, clean and beautiful. Anna Scetinina made use of her artistic background and past experience with a variety of forms including hands on experience in etching, wood cuts and lithography. One of the biggest challenges was producing vector art that would stand out when printed on clear labels and applied to glass bottles filled with juices ranging in colour from bright yellow to near black.
The focus on freshness was further amplified by a new bottle shape. Jessica Praskey (general manager for Black River Juice) says: “We went with the old style milk glass bottle shape because we wanted to convey ‘fresh from the farm’ without actually having to use those words on the label… There is no packaging that better conveys this than the old dairy bottle.”
August 2016 Black River Package redesign was awarded GOLD at Summit International Awards.
